Happy Cinco de Mayo! This is the day that marked a remarkable point in Mexican history. On May 5, 1862 the Mexican army defeated the French army at the Battle of Puebla. This day is not to be mistaken with the Mexican Independence Day, which is actually on September 16. This battle signifies a huge victory for Mexico against Europe as well as signifies a huge sense of pride for Hispanics and Mexican pride. This is a time for song, dance and drinking. Just keep in mind to be safe as you enjoy the festivities.
